Cá me encontro na leitura desta admirável obra de Andrew Hook, publicado pela Eibonvale Press.

Through dreamscape wonderment, fetishism, guilt, loss and love, these twenty-one stories map both physical and internal environments. Hook’s familiar themes of identity, memory, and the nature of reality thread multiple genres to form a dense cartographic exploration of the human condition.

It’s the little things that make this book literally “scream” at you: the bizarre, the despair, the obsessive – the love, the pain.

What I like most about the 21 stories of ‘Human Maps’ is that they don’t offer (m)any answers or conclusions; quite haunting.

A curse for the mind – oh, yeah!

P.S. and this opinion does not say too much either: I’m dysfunctionally cold…

    • Tetsudo Fan – a uma segunda leitura ainda continua a surpreender; história já lida na antologia “Rustblind and Silverbright”
    • The Perfection of Symmetry – uma “bela” simetricamente perfeita; a tragédia da obsessão.
    • The Human Map – lida anteriormente na antologia “Where Are We Going?” – deliciosa!
    • Blue Sky World – a história onírica de uma mulher com uma voz especial. e onde se revela que o segredo é a alma do negócio.

    • Wounder – sonhos. sonho dentro do sonho. sonho fora do sonho. sonhos diabólicos.

    • Flytrap – a verdade sobre The Body Snatchers(?). Uma história excelente. É fascinante como o tema pode ter várias leituras e/ou desenvolvimentos. Outra história para o top!
    • Black Lung – hipnotizante.

      I glanced around the room. Objects which were once here were no longer. Objects which had never been here now were.

      We were living inside a house inside a house. Each of the four walls of each of the rooms was wrapped as thought from the inside out in photos representing what had been and what no longer was. Imagine, if you will, living inside a memory.

      A blank canvas. The things that were there then are not here now.
